Rare Connections: recentring the importance of heritage collections in modern universities
Cabinets of curiosities. Grand halls lined with beautifully bound tomes. The hushed reverence of studious spaces. These are all ways that the historic and cultural heritage collections of universities have been romanticised. However, the collections in the care of universities are full of noise, they are messy, the capture reality and can engage the minds of today’s, and tomorrow’s, students, researchers and dreamers.
In this talk, Daryl Green will explore how recentring how we think about cultural heritage collections can help us break through the veneration and refocus on re-activating collections in our care in a positive and meaningful way.
